Full Criminal Record Search History

When it comes to state criminal record searches, CI understands the importance of thorough results.

While a few states like New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Vermont provide acceptable state criminal record searches, CI prefers to directly access county-level information outside these states. We believe this approach ensures the best practice for state criminal record searches.

Our preferred method for searching New York State is Cursory Indicator New York (CI NY). Alternatively, we also conduct the New York State Office of Court Administration (OCA) criminal record search when further research is needed or when it is the preferred method requested by the client.

The OCA criminal record search provides a comprehensive statewide criminal record search by accessing information from the New York State Office of Court Administration.

The OCA inquiry results encompass data from all 62 counties in New York. This includes records of misdemeanor and felony convictions, as well as open/pending cases from city and county courts.

Some town and village criminal record disposition data is also included, with approximately 20% of New York town and village courts reporting disposition data to OCA.

It is important to note that all New York City and County courts are required to report criminal record disposition data to the NYS Office of Court Administration.

Regular updates are made within New York City approximately every 24 hours, and outside New York City at least once a week.

The results obtained through the OCA criminal record search are based on an exact match of the individual's name and date of birth (DOB).

The OCA charges a fee of $95 per name and DOB submitted. In most cases, CI clients receive New York State criminal record search results within four to six hours, ensuring prompt access to the necessary information.

To comply with New York State law and Federal EEOC guidelines, it's important to understand that violations and infractions are not considered crimes under New York State law.

Additionally, employers are prohibited from inquiring into an applicant's arrest history as per New York State law and EEOC guidelines. Therefore, all OCA results undergo a thorough review by at least two CI Investigators to ensure compliance.

Any information that is illegal for clients to obtain is not relayed to them, safeguarding their adherence to New York State law and EEOC guidelines.
