Changes Beginning September 18, 2017
All employers must complete and retain Form I-9 for every person they hire for employment on or after Nov. 6, 1986, in the U.S. as long as the person works for pay or other type of payment.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a revised version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. On Sept. 18, all employers must use only the newly revised form.
I-9 and E-verify are services available to use directly through CIware 2.0. To remain compliant using the new form and streamline your workflow, start using I-9 through your dashboard.
I-9 Quick Tips
- Your newly hired employee must complete and sign Section 1 of Form I-9 no later than their first day of employment (the first day the employee receives wages), or before their first day of hire if the job has been offered and accepted.
- Employers must complete and sign Section 2 within 3 days of the date of hire of their employee (the hire date means the first day of work for pay).
